The Polish Journal of Old Age Psychiatry (Psychogeriatria Polska)
is a scientific periodical, published quarterly since the beginning of 2004 as the official journal of the Polish Association of Geriatric Psychiatry, and the Old Age Psychiatry and Alzheimer’s Disease Section of the Polish Psychiatric Society. As such, the new journal is a continuation of the Annals of Old Age Psychiatry, founded and edited since 1998 by Prof. Adam Bilikiewicz.
In its new formula, the journal has undergone substantial changes. Prof. Jerzy Leszek (Wroc?aw) is now Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Andrzej Kiejna (Wroc?aw) is Scientific Editor, and Prof. Ralf Ihl (Düsseldorf) is International Editor. The Editorial Board has been expanded to include many new members from Poland and around the world. The Mental Health Foundation has assumed the role of publisher.
The Polish Journal of Old Age Psychiatry publishes articles in Polish and English regarding the theory and practice of psychiatry for older persons (old age psychiatry) and its overlap with other scientific disciplines.
We begin this third year of publication of our periodical with some very good news: the Polish Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry is now officially listed in Excerpta Medica/Embase, and accordingly has received a higher rating in Index Copernicus (ICV=5.36). This success is of course the cause of great satisfaction for the editorial staff, and at the same time an added incentive to authors to publish their work with us, since the abstracts will appear in a widely used data base.
